Refund & Cancellation Policy
How to cancel, what happens to your data, and when refunds apply.
Canceling your subscription
You can cancel anytime from your account settings page. There's no penalty for canceling, no retention department to call, and no awkward "please stay" survey you have to lie to.
What happens when you cancel
Immediate effects
When you cancel your account, the following happens immediately:
- You're logged out and your active session ends
- Your daily briefs stop being delivered
- You can no longer access the dashboard, topics, or roadmap pages
- If on a paid plan, no further charges will occur
The 30-day grace period
We don't delete your data immediately. For 30 days after cancellation, we hold your data in a soft-deleted state. This means:
- Your subscriptions, roadmap progress, and preferences are preserved
- If you change your mind, you can restore your account just by logging in
- Restoring brings you back exactly where you left off — same subscriptions, same progress, same preferences
After 30 days
Once 30 days have passed, your account and all associated data are permanently deleted. This includes:
- Your email and login credentials
- All subscriptions and keyword preferences
- Your roadmap progress and notes
- Your theme and UI preferences
- Any feedback you've submitted (which is anonymized rather than fully deleted, to preserve any improvements we made based on it)
We keep certain aggregate, anonymized metrics for business records, but nothing that can identify you specifically.
Refund policy
Free tier users
Free tier users have no payment to refund. Cancellation simply terminates your access following the schedule above.
Monthly subscriptions
For monthly subscriptions, canceling takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access to all paid features through that date. We do not issue automatic refunds for unused days in the current month.
That said, we want to be reasonable. If you've recently been billed and feel the refund is warranted (technical issue, unintended renewal, etc.), email support@brieflee.io and we'll review case by case.
Annual subscriptions
For annual subscriptions, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you cancel within 30 days of your first annual payment, you receive a full refund. Email support@brieflee.io to initiate this.
After 30 days, annual subscriptions are non-refundable, but you can still cancel anytime to prevent the next year's renewal. You retain access until your current annual period ends.
Disputed charges
If you see a charge from Brieflee that you don't recognize or believe is incorrect, email support@brieflee.io before initiating a chargeback with your bank. We can usually resolve issues directly within 24-48 hours.
Reactivating after permanent deletion
If your account has been permanently deleted (after the 30-day grace period) and you want to come back, you'll need to create a new account. Unfortunately, we cannot restore data after permanent deletion. This is intentional and protects user privacy.
